Ooh La Love
Matthew 7:21 says, “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.”
I’m not sure if this verse is meant to scare people or what, but yesterday, it sure did scare me. It scared me because, well, to be honest, I haven’t been feeling ‘righteous’ in a while. And while that can be a good thing (for reasons you should already know), I know I’m scared because I’m well aware I haven’t been following God the way I should. In a lot of ways, I haven’t been ‘surrendered’ to Him.
But I’m not really here to elaborate on the condition of my heart, because I tell you, it has been pretty ugly there. I’m here because I want to put on paper [electronic version?] what I realized today.
I realize that God’s will isn’t really just about ‘do this’ or ‘don’t do that’ but is essentially all about becoming more like Christ in our every life choice we make. And He— He has always been about love.
Love. Love. Love.
The Bible advises us to not be overcome by evil but to overcome evil with good. A better version, I think, is to overcome evil with love.
Oh love, why must you be so hard to do?
